Sensory Sticks For Toddlers

Estimated read time 2 min read

Harvey was interested in these right away.He was calling the pompoms on the stick “bubbles,” which I thought was cute and showed me insight into his vocab and thinking processes.

He liked this activity as an interactive one, sitting on my lap and showing me the sticks and “talking” about them. He was actually interested in them longer than I thought he would be, so I found this activity a success.

Materials:

  • Jumbo craft sticks
  • Hot glue gun
  • Sensory materials such as pom poms, ribbons, buttons, feathers, felt, sandpaper, pipe cleaners etc

Hot glue your materials onto the jumbo craft stick to make them secure for little ones to explore.

I love to give items like this in a basket for the little ones to pick out as they like.

Show them each one commenting on the texture or color to help expand those vocabulary words.
