Games are one of my favorite ways to teach kids a new or reoccurring topic. Kids learn better when they are having fun, wouldn’t you say? So teaching them about the life cycle of a bee, how they pollinate, and how honey is made through a game is a great idea. This Go Bee Game for kids is not only fun but teaches so much!
Go Bee Game For Kids
This game is super simple to prep. You really just need to print. I would suggest printing on cardstock. It is stronger to hold and then also will prevent other players from seeing through the ‘cards’ to see what you have.
Playing this game is super simple as well and will most likely seem familiar to you as it is played just like the traditional card game ‘Go Fish’.
The aim is to get 3/4 of the same cards to make a pile.
First deal cards to the players.
For 2 to 3 players you deal each player 7 cards.
If there are more than three players, deal 5 cards each.
The rest of the deck is then placed in the middle of the players face down in a pile.
This can be called the pool of cards.
Each player gets a turn in clockwise order (to the player’s left).
During a turn the player asks another player if they have a particular card.
If yes, then the player gets it, if not he/she must “Go Bee”(take one card from the pile).
If a player has 3/4 of the same, it is placed on the table for everyone to see.
Players can then add to the piles with the same cards.
The game is over when one player runs out of cards or there are no more cards in the pool.
The winner is then determined by who has the most piles of cards in front of them.
These cards aren’t random pictures, though. They follow the theme of a bee. They will introduce or remind children of the life cycle of a bee, how it pollinates a flower, and how honey is created. This is a fantastic game for infusing STEM into your child’s day while also having FUN!
