Animal Spots – Fingerprint Paint Fun for Toddlers

Estimated read time 2 min read

For Fine motor Friday this week we went a bit into some paint to create some neat giraffes!

Here is an easy to setup and fun activity that your toddler will love because they get to decorate their animals with paint finger prints!

All you need for this fun paint project is:

• Colored construction paper / cardstock
• Paint, we used water paints
• Pencil
• Scissors
• Glue
• Wool or pipe cleaners
• Googly eyes

First thing is to cut your cardstock into 3 sections like below.

Next cut out the various shapes. You can free hand cut these or draw then cut.  Did you know those knobs on a giraffe’s head are called ossicones? Well now you do!

I couldn’t locate our wool stash so I just used a pipe cleaner for the neck, but the wool would have been so much softer to work with! use your glue to stick all the parts together.

Let the finger painting begin!

Those giraffes are starting to look good! Why is there a green one? Because my 5 year old choose that color. lol

And there you have it! A lovely giraffe to hang up somewhere. Our art wall is still under construction so I have put these safely away to display as soon as its done. Oh and I can’t wait to show you the new space I am setting up for the kids! So far I have painted the craft table over with chalk paint! Are you on my email list? Join here.

Other animals you can make like this include:  leopards, cheetahs, and peacocks! Create a display of 4 or 5 of these colorful fun paint fingerprint animals – toddlers love creating them and they are great on walls!

Love it? Pin it!
