Finger Painting For Toddlers

Estimated read time 2 min read

Harvey was a bit freaked out by the mess on his hands, prompting Nicolette to bring out some paintbrushes, which he liked better. Her kids, who obviously had more practice, really liked it, so I think after another time or two Harvey might get into it more.

I love how Nicolette taped the papers down – it keeps not only the paper but also the kids from moving around too much. Kids of all ages love this one.

Materials:

  • Flour
  • Food Coloring
  • Containers for mixing

Add 1/2 cup hot water to a bowl. Mix in 1/3 cup of flour and mix with a whisk. Separate a spoonful of mix into however many colors you would like to create. Add 1 or 2 drops food coloring and mix thoroughly.

Once the finger paint has cooled set up the paint as well as paper for the child to get creating with.

Nicolette uses painters’ tape to tape down the sides of the paper to the table. This helps the little ones with paper that keeps moving!
