Harvey almost immediately put some in his mouth and I was happy that it was OK!
He kept tasting little bits throughout the playtime and I had to get him some water as it made his throat a little dry, but he was enjoying it.
He really loved the sensory sensation of the oats and he liked picking up and dropping pieces and running them through his fingers. We brought out toy animals and they “ate” the oats, while we practiced animal names and sounds, then piled oats over them and dug them out.
Materials:
- Tray
- Oats
Add enough oats to the tray that it makes a thin layer. Show your child how lines and shapes can be drawn by tracing with your fingers through the oats. To reset the oats gently shake the tray.
It was excellent memory and focus practice teaching him to keep it on the tray.
